RECORDING STUDIO IN HAMBURG
FOR EMERGING INDEPENDENT ARTISTS
Upaya Sound is a recording studio for emerging independent artists in Hamburg’s northeast.
The creative atmosphere was designed for focused recording in intimate setting. The low-key lighting and warm, earthy colours calm the senses and direct the attention towards the creating original and innovative music.
ACOUSTICALLY TREATED RECORDING SPACE
The 20m2 recording space has been acoustically treated for optimal sound quality while tracking. Corners of the room have been cut and there are as few parallel walls as possible to minimise room modes and reflections. In an ideal acoustic environment it is then up to the musicians and recording engineer to capture the performances with the right microphones in the ideal places.
The adjoining control room is a comfortable space with a couch for artists to relax while listening to takes, mixes or the final mastered album.
RECORDING ENGINEER PROVIDING CREATIVE INPUT
As a recording engineer, I pay a lot of attention to the expectations of an artist and try to capture the sounds that will create the desired end result for a record. I infuse each recording with my own intuition and musical tastes, adding them to the influences of the artists to create bold and innovative music.
MICS AND GEAR
With a selection of modern and vintage microphones, amps and instruments, I cater for a large variety of recordings from rock to metal, indie to folk, to jazz and world music. My preferences lie with left-field guitar music such as post and progressive rock, post metal, math rock and related genres. I also have a soft spot for innovative folk and indie music and generally am open to all genres and styles.
RECORDING STUDIO LOCATION
Located on the edge of Hamburg amongst fields and forests, Upaya Sound is a place to focus, away from the noise of the city. The underground station Buchenkamp on the U1 line is within 8 minutes walking distance and the A1 autobahn is only 10 minutes drive away.
